The Book of Hajj-10a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah and Ibn Numayr both narrated to us from Abu Khalid. Abu Bakr said: Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us from 'Ubayd Allah from Nafi' who said:
he saw Ibn ‘Umar touching the stone with his hand, after which he kissed his hand. He said, “I have not given it up since I saw God's messenger doing it." رأيت ابن عمر يستلم الحجر بيده ، ثمّ قبّل يده ، وقال : ما تركته منذ رأيت رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلّم يفعله

The Shaykh : So this is one of the ways of honoring the Black Stone or following the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The highest is touching it and kissing it, then touching it with the hand and kissing the hand, then pointing to it. One should not kiss when pointing, because he does not kiss his hand since it has not touched the Stone.
If someone were to say: If touching the Black Stone with the hand and kissing the hand afterward is beloved to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), then the sanctity of a Muslim is higher in the sight of Allah than the sanctity of the Stone. Should we not then touch people and kiss our hands?
The answer: The believer is greater in the sight of Allah. So if the Stone is less than the believer, and it is kissed and the hand is kissed when it is touched, why should not the Muslim be the same? The answer: Worship is based on divine legislation.
But it seems to me that some of the common people think this, because we see them in the Sacred Precinct touching some of the imams and kissing their hands after touching their hands. You find it as if it were the Black Stone, touching his head, touching his shoulder, touching and kissing it. This is according to their scholars, meaning their scholars have accustomed them to this, I do not know.

The questioner : ... ؟

The Shaykh : May Allah heal them and guide them to the right path.
