The questioner : After the greeting, he says: I have a problem. I built a mosque on the outskirts of my town, and there is a group of people whose homes are five hundred meters from the aforementioned mosque, and they do not pray with me on the grounds that the mosque is far from them. They want me to join them in building another mosque that is closer to them, and I would also be their imam. What is your opinion regarding the mosque that I built fifteen years ago? Is it permissible for me and my sons to abandon it, or to demolish it, or to leave it as it is? Please give us a ruling. May Allah reward you with good, and peace be upon you?

The Shaykh : If the mosque you built was for these people, but it has become far from them, and they wish for you to move it to a place closer to them, and there is no one else who needs the first mosque, then there is no harm in moving it to the mosque they desire, and the first mosque will be your property, and you may dispose of it as you wish.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Because the correct view is that it is permissible to move a mosque from its location to another location for the benefit of the worshippers.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : As you mentioned in the question, they are unable to attend it. Consequently, the mosque will remain abandoned with no one praying in it, unless there are other people who pray there. This confirms for you that you should move it to a place where Muslims can benefit from it and pray.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : This is a letter we received from the Arab Republic of Egypt regarding slaughtering animals at graves. It was sent by the listener of the program *Nur 'ala al-Darb*, Sulayman 'Abd al-Ghaffar 'Abd al-Majid. He says: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy, and in Him we seek help against the self, the disbelievers, and those who associate partners with Allah. After that, I thank you for the program *Nur 'ala al-Darb*, and I wish for you the greatest reward from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise. He says: I am addressing these questions to the distinguished scholars.
