If one enters the mosque, does he greet first or pray the greeting of the mosque?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Please go ahead.

The questioner : Regarding the mosque, if you enter it, do you return the greeting or pray the greeting of the mosque first?

The Shaykh : Receiving the greeting means you do not return the greeting.

The questioner : Receiving the greeting.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : The second question: You entered the mosque and found a second congregation. Do you pray with them or pray alone?

The Shaykh : You make up the prayer. May Allah reward you. The first question differs depending on your situation when you entered the mosque. If you find some of the worshippers in the mosque, it is obligatory for you to greet them first, then pray the greeting of the mosque. However, if they are in a corner of the mosque and you are in another part, you pray the greeting of the mosque first. If you then meet someone, or if someone meets you, you greet them or they greet you. This is the answer to the first question.
