He said: Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, saying: Ibn Jurayj informed us, saying: I heard Ibn Abi Mulaikah say: Dhikwan, the freed slave of Aisha, said: I heard Aisha say:
I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about a slave girl whose family marries her off: is she to be consulted or not? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: Yes, she is to be consulted. Aisha said: So I said to him: What if she is shy? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then her silence is her consent. سألت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن الجارية ينكحها أهلها أتستأمر أم لا؟ فقال لها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : نعم تستأمر، فقالت عائشة: فقلت له فإنها تستحي، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فذلك إذنها إذا هي سكتت
