The Book of Faith-01b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Bashir ibn al-Hakam al-Abdi narrated to me, saying: I heard Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah say: Tell me about Abu 'Aqil, the companion of Buhayyah: "that the sons of 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar asked him about something for which he had no knowledge. So Yahya ibn Sa'id said to him: By Allah, I consider it the greatest thing that you, who are the son of the Imam of Guidance—meaning 'Umar and 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar—should be asked about a matter for which you have no knowledge. He said: I consider it greater than that, by Allah, before Allah and before those who have understanding of Allah, that I should speak without knowledge or report from someone who is not trustworthy. Abu 'Aqil, Yahya ibn al-Mutawakkil, witnessed them when they said that".
