The Book of Faith-02a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Jarir narrated to us from Raqabah: "That Abu Ja'far al-Hashimi al-Madani used to fabricate hadiths that were true in wording, but were not from the hadiths of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he used to narrate them from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)".

The Shaykh : This is problematic. Some people, when they find a statement pleasing, present it as a hadith, then say: "This is correct in meaning but weak in chain," and it may not have a chain at all. However, they see that its meaning is correct and that the evidence supports it, then they narrate it as a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and then say: "This is a hadith with a correct text but a weak chain, and it has no chain at all," just like the situation of this man.
