The reciter: And Abu al-Tahir, Harimah ibn Yahya, and Ahmad ibn Isa narrated to us. Ahmad said: He narrated to us. And the other two said: He informed us. Ibn Wahb said: He informed me. Yunus said: Ibn Shihab informed me. He said: Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib informed me that Abu Hurayrah informed him that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have been commanded to fight against people so long as they do not declare that there is no god but Allah, and he who professed it was guaranteed the protection of his property and life on my behalf except for the right affairs rest with Allah. أمرت أن أقاتل الناس حتى يقولوا : لا إله إلا الله ، فمن قال : لا إله إلا الله عصم مني ماله ونفسه إلا بحقه وحسابه على الله
Sahih Muslim 21a
.

The Shaykh : Now, the other two said "He informed us." Is there a difference between "He narrated to us" (hadithana) and "He informed us" (akhbarana)? Among the early hadith scholars and narrators, there is no difference, but they seek to use the exact wording in which the chain of narration was transmitted. However, the later scholars consider "He narrated to us" to indicate direct hearing, while "He informed us" indicates either a license to narrate, or that the narrator heard it from him along with others, or something similar. The important point is that they consider "He narrated to us" to be stronger than "He informed us." Based on this, this hadith was transmitted from the narration of 'Umar and Abu Hurayrah.
