The reciter: Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Dhaby narrated to us, 'Abd al-'Aziz—meaning al-Darawardi—narrated to us from al-'Ala'. And Amiyah ibn Bustam narrated to us, and the wording is his, and Yazid ibn Zura' narrated to us, and Ruh narrated to us from al-'Ala' ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ya'qub from his father from Abu Hurayrah from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: Sahih Muslim 21b.
The Shaykh : This wording came from the narration of 'Umar and Abu Hurayrah. When 'Umar said to Abu Bakr: "How will you fight the people when the Messenger of Allah said...," Abu Hurayrah narrated the entire story, and 'Umar narrated the hadith to Abu Bakr.
I have been commanded to fight against people, till they testify to the fact that there is no god but Allah, and believe in me (that) I am the messenger (from the Lord) and in all that I have brought. And when they do it, their blood and riches are guaranteed protection on my behalf except where it is justified by law, and their affairs rest with Allah.
