Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Reciter: The Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) said in the Book of Faith: Harimah ibn Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Imran al-Tajibi narrated to us, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Yunus informed me, from Ibn Shihab, saying: I heard Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman and Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib say: Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The fornicator who fornicates is not a believer so long as he commits it and no thief who steals is a believer as long as he commits theft, and no drunkard who drinks wine is a believer as long as he drinks it. لا يزني الزّاني حين يزني وهو مؤمنٌ ، ولا يسرق السّارق حين يسرق وهو مؤمنٌ ، ولا يشرب الخمر حين يشربها وهو مؤمنٌ
Sahih Muslim 57a
Ibn Shihab said: Then 'Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Bakr ibn 'Abd al-Rahman informed me that Abi Bakr used to narrate these to them from Abu Hurayrah, and then he would say: And Abu Hurayrah would add to them:
and when a robber robs, and the people look at him, then he is not a believer at the time of doing robbery. ولا ينتهب نهبةً ذات شرفٍ يرفع النّاس إليه فيها أبصارهم حين ينتهبها وهو مؤمنٌ
Sahih al-Bukhari 2475
