The Book of Faith-08a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, and Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us. And Ibn Numayr narrated to us, and the wording is his, and he said: My father and Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, all of them from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Two (things) are found among men which are tantamount to unbelief: slandering one's lineage and lamentation on the dead. اثنتان في النّاس هما بهم كفرٌ: الطّعن في النّسب والنّياحة على الميّت
Sahih Muslim 67
.

The Shaykh : Attacking lineage means that a person attacks his brother's lineage, saying for example, "You are not the son of so-and-so." This is one aspect. The second aspect is that he taunts him with his lineage and tribe, saying, "You are from such-and-such a tribe," and disparaging it.
Wailing over the dead is crying over him with a specific tone resembling the cooing of a pigeon. This is something that stirs up grief; when a person hears this type of crying, his grief is aroused. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If the wailing woman does not repent before she dies, she will be made to stand on the Day of Resurrection wearing a garment of pitch and a garment of scabies النائحة إذا لم تتب قبل موتها تقام يوم القيامة - يعني من قبرها - وعليها سربال من قطران ودرع من جرب
Riyad as-Salihin 1664
We ask Allah for well-being.
As for natural crying that nature requires, without wailing, there is nothing wrong with it.
