The reciter: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Abu al-Ahwas and Waki' narrated to us. And Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to me, Waki' narrated to us. And Abu Kuraib and Ibn Numayr said, Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us. And Ishaq ibn Ibrahim and Ali ibn Khashram said, Isa ibn Yunus informed us, all of them from al-A'mash. And Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, and the wording is his, Jarir narrated to us from al-A'mash from Zayd ibn Wahb from Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
After me there will be favouritism and many things that you will not like. They (his Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, what do you order that one should do if anyone from us has to live through such a time? He said: You should discharge your own responsibility (by obeying your Amir), and ask God for your right (by guiding the Amir to the right path or by replacing him by one more just and God-fearing).
Sahih Muslim 1843
.

The Shaykh : Look at this sound guidance. If we see these matters that we disapprove of from our rulers, then we must fulfill what is obligatory for them, and we ask Allah for our right. We do not say: We will not obey you unless you give us our right. Because if they prevent us from our right, they have wronged us, but their wrongdoing does not permit us to withhold their right. For if that were the case, great fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) would occur.
