The reciter: And Muhammad ibn al-Walid ibn 'Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: 'Ubayd Allah ibn Abi Bakr narrated to me, he said: I heard Anas ibn Malik say:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the major sins, or he was asked about the major sins, and he said: Associating partners with Allah, killing the soul, and undutifulness to parents. He said: Shall I inform you of the greatest of the major sins? He said: False speech, or he said: False testimony. Shu'bah said: And my strongest opinion is that it is false testimony.
ذكر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم الكبائر - أو سئل عن الكبائر - فقال: الشرك بالله، وقتل النفس، وعقوق الوالدين وقال: ألا أنبئكم بأكبر الكبائر؟ قال: قول الزور - أو قال : شهادة الزور - قال شعبة: وأكبر ظني أنه شهادة الزور
