The story of 'Umar with the one who was reciting from Surat al-Furqan.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Do you not know that the Commander of the Faithful (may Allah be pleased with him) heard a reciter reciting in Surat al-Furqan? When he finished, 'Umar grabbed him forcefully and said, "This is not in the Book of Allah; this is not in the Book of Allah." The man said, "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught it to me." So they went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family)
And he said to the man, "Recite." So he recited, and he said, "Thus it was revealed." Then he said to 'Umar, "Recite." So he recited, and he said, "Thus it was revealed." وقال للرجل اقرأ فقرأ فقال هكذا أنزلت ثم قال لعمر اقرأ فقرأ فقال هكذا أنزلت
So 'Umar denied it from the Qur'an, but did he deny it while knowing that the Messenger had approved it? No, absolutely not. But he did not know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had recited it, so he denied it, meaning perhaps the one who recited had made a mistake.
