The Ruling on the Hadith: (What a good pair of surahs to recite in . . . )

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From the Iraqi Republic, listener Muhammad Abdullah Khalaf sent a message containing some questions. In one of them, he asks: Is the voluntary prayer specified by the recitation of a particular surah? And what is the authenticity of this hadith from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
What a good pair of surahs to recite in the two rak'ahs before Fajr and the two rak'ahs after Maghrib: (Qul ya ayyuha al-kafirun) and (Qul huwa Allahu ahad)نعم السورتان يقرأ بهما في الركعتين قبل الفجر، والركعتين بعد المغرب، (قل يا أيها الكافرون) و(قل هو الله أحد)
? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

Answer:
I do not know of any source for this report from Aisha, but it is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite in the Sunnah of Fajr
Say: O you disbelievers!قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ
[Al-Kafirun: 1] and
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
[Al-Ikhlas: 1], and likewise in the Sunnah of Maghrib. In the two rak'ahs of tawaf, he used to recite these two surahs after al-Fatihah (peace and blessings be upon him). He would sometimes recite in the Sunnah of Fajr two verses from Surat al-Baqarah and Surat Ali 'Imran, namely the words of the Exalted:
Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has beenقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَا أُنزِلَ
[Al-Baqarah: 136] ... to the end of the noble verse from Surat al-Baqarah, and in the second rak'ah:
Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and youقُلْ يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ تَعَالَوْا إِلَى كَلِمَةٍ سَوَاءٍ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ
[Ali 'Imran: 64] ... the verse from Surat Ali 'Imran. This is established from him, and this is established from him, (peace and blessings be upon him).
It is recommended to recite these two surahs in them, meaning: in the Sunnah of Fajr, the Sunnah of Maghrib, and the Sunnah of tawaf after al-Fatihah. And at times, he would recite the two verses in the Sunnah of Fajr: the verse from al-Baqarah in the first rak'ah
Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to usقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا
[Al-Baqarah: 136] the verse, and the verse from Ali 'Imran in the second:
Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and youقُلْ يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ تَعَالَوْا إِلَى كَلِمَةٍ سَوَاءٍ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ
[Ali 'Imran: 64] the verse. This is the Sunnah.
I do not know of specific surahs for the voluntary prayer other than what has been mentioned. Rather, one recites in the voluntary prayer what is easy, just as one recites in the obligatory prayer. Allah said:
So recite what is easy from itفَاقْرَءُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ
[Al-Muzzammil: 20]. One recites in the obligatory and voluntary prayers what Allah makes easy after al-Fatihah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. He says: What is the authenticity of this hadith: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever says when he goes to his bed.”

The Shaykh: Follow...

The presenter : Yes.

The Shaykh: Follow the first question as well.

The presenter: May Allah bless you.

The Shaykh: It is established that in the Fajr prayer on Friday, he used to recite after al-Fatihah the surah
Alif, Lam, Meem. The revelationالم * تَنْزِيلُ
[Al-Sajdah: 1, 2] and in the second rak'ah
Has there come to manهَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ
[Al-Insan: 1]. This is in the obligatory prayer. He used to recite these two surahs after al-Fatihah in the Fajr prayer on Friday: in the first rak'ah after al-Fatihah
Alif, Lam, Meem. The revelationالم * تَنْزِيلُ
[Al-Sajdah: 1, 2] and in the second
Has there come to manهَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ
[Al-Insan: 1]. He also used to recite in the Friday prayer, in the Friday prayer, Subhan and Al-Ghashiyah after al-Fatihah. He would sometimes recite Al-Jumu'ah and Al-Munafiqun in the Friday prayer. He would sometimes recite Al-Jumu'ah in the first rak'ah and
Has there come to you the news of the Overwhelming?هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ
[Al-Ghashiyah: 1] in the second. These are three types, three types in his recitation in the Friday prayer (peace and blessings be upon him). All of them are preserved from him (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Friday prayer.
The first: Subhan and Al-Ghashiyah after al-Fatihah.
The second: Al-Jumu'ah and Al-Munafiqun, meaning: the surah
Exalted is Allahيُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ
[Al-Jumu'ah: 1] Surat al-Jumu'ah and the surah Al-Munafiqun
When the hypocrites come to youإِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ
[Al-Munafiqun: 1]. And the third type: he recites (Al-Jumu'ah) in the first rak'ah, and recites in the second rak'ah
Has there come to you the news of the Overwhelming?هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ
[Al-Ghashiyah: 1] instead of Al-Munafiqun. All of this is established from him regarding the description of the prayer (the Friday prayer). And all of it is recommended, not obligatory. If one recites other than these surahs, there is no blame. And it is established from him that he recited in the 'Id prayer with (Qaf) and (Iqtaraba) and with Subhan and Al-Ghashiyah, just as he recited in the Friday prayer (peace and blessings be upon him). Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. So, we move on to the second question.

The Shaykh : Yes.
