Explanation of the author's statement: "The Jahmiyyah and those who followed them from the deniers of the divine attributes called the people of the Sunnah 'likeners' (mushabbihah), claiming that affirming the attributes necessitates likening Allah to creation."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Among them are the Jahmiyyah and those who followed them from the deniers of the divine attributes, who call the people of the Sunnah "likeners" (mushabbihah). All the deniers are the same, whether they are from the Jahmiyyah, the Mu'tazilah, the Asha'irah, or others; every denier says to the people of the Sunnah: "You are likeners." Why? Because they claim that affirming the attributes necessitates likening Allah to creation. They also call them "those who ascribe a body to Allah" (mujassimah), likewise claiming that affirming the attributes necessitates ascribing a body to Allah. This is a bad label, is it not? There is no doubt that it is a bad label.
If you tell an ordinary person, "Come, do not take from this man; you will find him a likening of Allah, do not take from him, for he is one who ascribes a body to Allah," the ordinary person will be repelled and cut off ties with him, and will not go to him. This is a reality, because every innovator wants his innovation to prevail, may Allah protect us from that.
