If a person prefers something based on evidence, and I see it as a religious innovation, and I advise him but he does not accept the advice, and he refutes the evidence with evidence, and the strength of my evidence is not made clear to him, is it possible to judge

The Shaykh : Yes, Ahmad.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O Shaykh. If someone prefers something that I see as a religious innovation, and I go to him and advise him.

The Shaykh : What did he prefer?

The questioner : Something that I see as a religious innovation. I see that this thing is a religious innovation. I went to him with evidence and advised him, but he did not respond. He refuted that with evidence, meaning that even this evidence did not prevail in his view. He said: It does not have the strength that would make me retract. Is it permissible for me to say about him that he is one who follows his desires or an innovator?

The Shaykh : No, if you know the sincerity of his intention. Because some people, meaning it appears from their state that they are stubborn, even if he said, "This is what appeared to me based on evidence," but I know that he is stubborn because the people gathered around him for the sake of this religious innovation, and it is feared that if he were to deny it one day, they would disperse from him based on his assumption and what Satan suggests to him. But if you know that this is the truth and that this is what his independent legal reasoning led him to, then I do not force him to this, nor do I say that he is an innovator. Rather, I may increase my love for him because he did not fear the blame of a blamer in the matter of Allah. Yes.
