Reading from the author's words while cross-checking the manuscripts: "And although Allah has warned us against their path, His decree is executed by what His Messenger informed us of, which preceded in His knowledge

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon His servant and Messenger, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions
As for what follows: The Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in the book *Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim*
"And although Allah has warned us against their path".

The Shaykh : What page number does this correspond to?
The reader: Page five, page five.

The Shaykh : Yes, yes.
The reader: Shall I read?

The Shaykh : Okay, let him look. And for this reason, "for this reason, the Salaf: Sufyan ibn Uyaynah and others used to say".
The reader: Two or three lines after that.

The Shaykh : Yes, okay, where he said in what they reported in the two Sahihs.
The reader: One line before that. "And although Allah has warned us".

The Shaykh : That's fine, okay.
The reader: "And although Allah has warned us against their path, His decree is executed by what His Messenger informed us of, which preceded in His knowledge, as He said in what they both reported in *the two Sahihs*: From Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
You will surely follow the ways of those who came before you, heel following heel, so much so that if they were to enter the hole of a scorpion, you would enter it. They said: O Messenger of Allah, the Jews and the Christians? He said: And who else?
.
And al-Bukhari reported in *his Sahih* from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The Hour will not be established till my followers copy the deeds of the previous nations and follow them very closely, span by span, and cubit by cubit (i.e., inch by inch)." It was said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Do you mean by those (nations) the Persians and the Byzantines?" The Prophet said, "Who can it be other than they?" لا تقوم الساعة حتى تأخذ أمتي مأخذ القرون، شبراً بشبر، وذراعاً بذراع، فقيل يا رسول الله، كفارس والروم ؟ قال : ومن الناس إلا أولئك
Sahih al-Bukhari 7319
. So he informed that there will be in his Ummah a following of the Jews and the Christians, who are the People of the Book, and a following of the Persians and the Romans, who are the non-Arabs.
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to prohibit imitating these and those, and this is not a report about the entire Ummah, but it has been mass-transmitted from him that he said:
A group of people from my Umma
Sahih Muslim 1923
"
.

The Shaykh : Who
The reader:
A group of people from my Umma will always remain triumphant
Sahih Muslim 1920

The Shaykh : We have
From his Ummah
with the possessive pronoun, a copy, yes.
The reader: "But it has been mass-transmitted from him that he said:
A group from his Ummah will remain manifest upon the truth until the Hour is established
. And he informed (peace and blessings be upon him):
That Allah will not gather this Ummah upon error
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 48:284
and
That Allah continues to plant in this religion a group whom He employs in it through their obedience to Him
"
.

The Shaykh : O Allah, make us among them
The reader: "So it is known by His truthful report that there must be in his Ummah people holding fast to his guidance".

The Shaykh : I have that in his Ummah, meaning with the omission of "there must be," but there is no harm. I say the existing copy is good.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : No, that in his Ummah there are people, if it is "in his Ummah" without the pronoun?
The student: That in his Ummah

The Shaykh : Yes, people holding fast, yes.
The reader: "So it is known by His truthful report that there must be in his Ummah people holding fast to his guidance, which is the pure religion of Islam, and people deviating to a branch of the branches of the Jews, or to a branch of the branches of the Christians, and although a person is not declared a disbeliever for this deviation".

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: I have it without "religion," branches of the Jews, and likewise branches of the Christians.

The Shaykh : And it is so, it does not have "religion" in my copy. Put it in parentheses, and put the extra part in your copy that has the addition in parentheses and write "kh" on it, since we said it is a copy and the meaning does not change by omitting it.
The reader: Is the extra word now "branches" or "religion"?

The Shaykh : Yes
The student: What is the extra word?

The Shaykh : Religion.
The reader: "And although a person is not declared a disbeliever for this deviation, rather, it may not even be open sinfulness, rather, the deviation may be disbelief, it may be open sinfulness, it may be a bad error".

The Shaykh : In a copy, "a sin".
The reader: "And this deviation is something that the natures demand and Satan beautifies".
