The Shaykh : This hadith of Abu Hurayrah also contains the reward for wudu. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
On the Day of Resurrection, my followers will be called "Al-Ghurr-ul- Muhajjalun" from the trace of ablution إن أمتي يدعون يوم القيامة غرا محجلين من أثر الوضوء
Sahih al-Bukhari 136
. Is the Ummah the Ummah of the Response or the Ummah of the Call? We must know first who are the Ummah of the Call and who are the Ummah of the Response? The Ummah of the Call is all people after the sending of the Messenger (peace be upon him); they are the Ummah of the Call, because they are all called to believe in Muhammad (peace be upon him). Do the Jews and Christians fall under this, or do they not? The Jews and Christians are from the Ummah of the Messenger? Meaning, the Ummah of the Call. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
By Him in whose hand is my soul—or he said, By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad—no one from this Ummah, whether a Jew or a Christian, will hear of me and then die without believing in what I have brought, except that he will be among the companions of the Fire والذي نفسي بيده - أو قال والذي نفس محمد بيده - لا يسمع بي أحد من هذه الأمة يهودي ولا نصراني ثم لا يموت وهو لم يؤمن بما جئت به إلا كان من أصحاب النار
. Pay attention, my brother. This hadith says:
no Jew or Christian hears of me لا يسمع بي يهودي ولا نصراني
So he made mere hearing, in the case of the Jew and the Christian, a proof, a proof against them. As for those other than the Jews and Christians, knowledge is required in addition to hearing. But the Jews and Christians do not need knowledge, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is written about in their Torah and Gospel with descriptions that make them know him as they know their own sons. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made mere hearing, in the case of the Jews and Christians, a proof. And this is one of the differences between the Jews and Christians and others. All right.
The second type: The second section is the Ummah of the Response. These are the ones who responded to the Messenger (peace be upon him). They believed in him and followed him. So his statement in this hadith:
On the Day of Resurrection, my followers will be called إن أمتي يدعون يوم القيامة
Sahih al-Bukhari 136
to the end, who is meant by them, my man?
The Ummah of the Response means the Muslims. Well done. Those who responded to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and followed him.
