Explanation of the hadith, "Whoever imitates a people is one of them," and the danger of imitating the disbelievers.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who copies any people is one of them. من تشبه بقوم فهو منهم
Sunan Abi Dawud 4031Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani)
This is the reality. If you were to wear clothes like so-and-so's, would you not feel your heart inclining toward him? That is why you imitated him. Likewise, the one who imitates the disbelievers must have an inclination in his heart toward them. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stated definitively that whoever imitates a people is one of them. He did not say, "he is almost one of them." He said:
then he is one of them فهو منهم
"one of them" in the matter in which the resemblance occurred, without doubt. This is because there is no distinction between a Muslim and a disbeliever if they resemble each other in clothing. They are one of them, even in the inner aspect, because the heart must have an inclination and a feeling toward the one being imitated. This is a tested and known fact. Yes.
The student: "And these inner and outer matters, there must be a connection and relationship between them" and there must be an addition.

The Shaykh : Do you have a mistake in your copy? No, it is not with us.
