The reader: "And Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, described the Jews with this in more than one place, saying, the Exalted".

The Shaykh : O Allah, soften our hearts for Your remembrance.
The reader: Amen. "
(73) So, We said, "Strike the slain man with part of it." Thus does Allah bring the dead to life, and He shows you His signs that you might reason. (74) Then your hearts became hardened after that, being like stones or even harder. For indeed, there are stones from which rivers burst forth, and there are some of them that split open and water comes out, and there are some of them that fall down for fear of Allah. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.
[Al-Baqarah 2:73-74]

.

The Shaykh : Or here, is it for doubt?
The student: No.

The Shaykh : Yes, what is it?
The student: Variation.

The Shaykh : It is said that it means "rather" and it is said that it is for emphasis, and this is the most correct, meaning if they are not like them, they are more severe. And like that is His saying, the Exalted:
And We sent him to a hundred thousand or more
This is not doubt from Allah regarding their number, but if they are not a thousand, they will not be less than that, so it is for emphasis.
The student: If they are not a hundred thousand.

The Shaykh : Yes, if they are not a hundred thousand, then they will not be less.
The reader: "
For indeed, there are stones from which rivers burst forth, and there are some of them that split open and water comes out, and there are some of them that fall down for fear of Allah. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.
[Al-Baqarah 2:74]
And He, the Exalted, said:
And Allah had already taken a covenant from the Children of Israel, and We delegated from among them twelve leaders. And Allah said, "I am with you. If you establish prayer and give zakah and believe in My messengers and support them and loan Allah a goodly loan, I will surely remove from you your misdeeds and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow ولقد أخذ الله ميثاق بني إسرائيل وبعثنا منهم اثني عشر نقيبًا وقال الله إني معكم لئن أقمتم الصلاة وآتيتم الزكاة وآمنتم برسُلي وعزرتموهم وأقرضتم الله قرضًا حسنًا لأُكفرن عنكم سيئاتكم ولأُدخلنكم جناتٍ تجري من تحتها الأنهار
[Al-Ma'idah 5:12]
To His saying:
So for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort words from their [proper] usages and have forgotten a portion of that of which they were reminded. And you will still observe deceit among them, except a few of them. But pardon them and overlook [their misdeeds]. Indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:13]

And indeed, a group from this Ummah, from those who are attributed to knowledge or religion"
.

The Shaykh : In my view, "one who is attributed" in your view is "is attributed" and not "attributes himself"? He did not point to it.
The reader: No, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The reader: "And indeed, a group from this Ummah, from those who are attributed to knowledge or religion, have taken a share of these attributes, and that is seen by one who has insight, so we seek refuge in Allah from everything that Allah and His Messenger dislike. For this reason, the Salaf used to warn them of this.
So al-Bukhari narrated in *his Sahih* from Abu al-Aswad, who said:
Abu Musa sent for the reciters of the people of Basra, so three hundred men who had recited the Qur'an entered upon him. He said: "You are the best of the people of Basra and their reciters, so recite it, and let not the time become long for you, so that your hearts harden, just as the hearts of those before you hardened. And we used to recite a surah that we compared in length and severity to al-Bara'ah, but I forgot it, except that I memorized from it: 'If the son of Adam had two valleys of wealth, he would seek a third, and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust.' And we used to recite a surah that we compared to one of the glorifying ones" بعث أبو موسى إلى قراء أهل البصرة، فدخل عليه ثلاثمائة رجل قد قرؤوا القرآن، فقال : أنتم خيار أهل البصرة وقراؤهم، فاتلوه، ولا يطولن عليكم الأمد، فتقسو قلوبكم، كما قست قلوب من كان قبلكم، وإنا كنا نقرأ سورة كنا نشبهها في الطول والشدة ببراءة، فأُنسيتها، غير أني حفظت منها : لو كان لابن آدم واديان من مال لابتغى وادياً ثالثاً، ولا يملأ جوف ابن آدم إلا التراب .
"

The Shaykh : One of
The reader: "
which resembled one of the surahs of Musabbihat, and I have forgotten it, but remember (this much) out of it:" Oh people who believe, why do you say that which you do not practise" (lxi 2.) and" that is recorded in your necks as a witness (against you) and you would be asked about it on the Day of Resurrection" (xvii. 13).
Sahih Muslim 1050
"

He said in the marginal note: "I did not find this hadith in its full length in al-Bukhari, but Muslim narrated it in the Book of Zakah, in the chapter 'If the son of Adam had two valleys, he would seek a third,' with this wording. And al-Bukhari only narrated a part of it from Ibn Abbas, Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr, and Anas. And the wording of Ibn Abbas's narration is:
If the son of Adam (the human being) had two valleys of money, he would wish for a third, for nothing can fill the belly of Adam's son except dust, and Allah forgives him who repents to Him.
Sahih al-Bukhari 6436
And the other narrations are close to this with a slight difference in wording and context"
.

The Shaykh : Well done.
The reader: So Abu Musa warned the reciters against the time becoming long for them

The Shaykh : Like this, when it comes from this Imam al-Hafiz, may Allah have mercy on him, the Shaykh al-Islam, either it is said that it is due to a difference in the manuscripts of al-Bukhari and what was in his hand was what he quoted, or that he forgot, because no one is protected from forgetting. And this is like his negation, may Allah have mercy on him, of the combining of
Suhaib (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When the inhabitants of Jannah enter Jannah, Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, will say to them: 'Do you wish me to give you anything more?' They will reply: 'Have You not made our faces bright? Have You not brought us into Jannah and delivered us from the Hell?' And Allah will remove the Veil. The (dwellers of Jannah) will feel that they have not been awarded anything dearer to them than looking at their Rubb." [Muslim] . Allah, the Exalted, says: "Verily, those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, their Rubb will guide them through their Faith; under them will flow rivers in the Gardens of Delight (Jannah). Their way of request therein will be Subhanaka Allahumma (Glory to You, O Allah!) and Salam (peace, safety from evil) will be their greetings therein (Jannah)! and the close of their request will be: Al-hamdu lillahi Rabbil-'Alamin [All the praises and thanks are to Allah, the Rubb of 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists)] ."
Riyad as-Salihin 1896
He said: "It is not narrated in al-Bukhari that they are combined", even though it is narrated as "As I prayed upon Ibrahim, and upon the family of Ibrahim," which is established in al-Bukhari. So either it is said that the manuscript that was in his hand did not contain that, or that he forgot. But in the latter case, his negation that it was narrated in al-Bukhari necessitates the first possibility, which is a difference in manuscripts.
