Benefits of the Hadith (The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution with a mudd...)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : From this, one takes the lesson of economy in the use of water, for this is undoubtedly a small amount.
Among its benefits is also that a person should be moderate in worship, not exceeding it in quantity or quality. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said regarding quantity, when he performed ablution three times:
Whoever exceeds that has done wrong, transgressed, and wronged himself. من زاد على ذلك فقد أساء وتعدى وظلم
. And among the benefits of this hadith is that we should follow the Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) in this. For this reason, the scholars said: It is a recommended practice (sunnah) to perform ablution with a mudd and to take a full ritual bath with a sa'. This is possible if a person is scooping water from a container, meaning it is possible to perform ablution with this amount. But if he is pouring water on himself from pipes, then that is not possible, and it cannot be regulated.
