The questioner : Welcome, Shaykh Muhammad.
The Shaykh : May Allah greet you, and welcome to you.
The questioner : This is a message we received from the sender, Hammad Hamdi al-Faris or al-Farsi, from the village of Kullayy, in the outskirts of Rabigh. He says in it: After I stoned the pillars, I shaved my head, then I went to the resting place in Mina, then I slaughtered the sacrificial animal. Then some people told me it is not permissible to shave before slaughtering, and I did not know that. Is it permissible, or is there something required of me in this? Please issue a ruling for us. May Allah reward you with good for me?
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. Your shaving before the slaughter is permissible and there is no blame on you, and you owe no expiation for it, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about something like that, or about it, and he said: There is no harm. So the pilgrim on the Day of Sacrifice performs the following rites: he stons the Jamrat al-Aqabah, then he slaughters his sacrificial animal, then he shaves his head, then he performs the circumambulation and the walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah. This is the order in this manner.
The questioner : Yes.
The Shaykh : And one begins with them first, so first by way of recommendation and preference. If he brings some of them forward over others, there is no blame on him, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was not asked about anything on that day that was brought forward or delayed except that he said: Do it, and there is no harm.
