Explanation of the Book of Purification-19

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :" And from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to the place of relief, so he ordered me to bring him three stones, so I found two stones, and I did not find a third, so I brought him a piece of dried dung, so he took them and threw away the dried dung, and said: This is *rajis* or *ruks* أتى النبيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم الغائط ، فأمرني أن آتيه بثلاثة أحجار ، فوجدت حجرين ، ولم أجد ثالثاً ، فأتيته بروثة ، فأخذهما وألقى الروثة ، وقال : هذا رجس أو ركس
Al-Bukhari narrated it, and Ahmad and al-Daraqutni added:
Bring me something else ائتني بغيرها
"
:
His statement (may Allah be pleased with him):
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to the place of relief أتى النبيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم الغائط
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 1:43
means the place of relieving oneself.
asked me to bring three stones فأمرني أن آتيه بثلاثة أحجار
Sahih al-Bukhari 156
And that was so that he could use them for cleaning himself, so he found two stones but did not find the third, but he brought a piece of dried dung:
And the dried dung here is the dung of a donkey, not the dung of a camel, but rather it is the dung of a donkey, as evidenced by what follows in the hadith.
He says:
So he took them فأخذهما
meaning: he took the two stones.
and threw away the dung and said, "This is a filthy thing." وألقى الروثة وقال : هذا رجس
Sahih al-Bukhari 156
This is *rajis* (impurity). Here he said:
this هذا
and did not say: 'This is,' considering the referent, meaning: this referent is *rajis*, and he does not mean this bringing, because Ibn Mas'ud brought something that is not *rajis*, which is the two stones.
This is *rajis* هذا رجس
Then he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
This is *rajis* or *ruks* هذا رجس أو ركس
, and the variation in wording is the same in meaning.
And the intended meaning of *rajis* here is *najas* (ritually impure).
" Ahmad and al-Daraqutni added
Bring me something else اثتني بغيرها
"
: meaning: other than the dried dung, because the dried dung is ritually impure, and the ritually impure cannot purify.
