Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((And those who give in charity, both men and women...))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And those who give in charity, both men and women وَالْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ وَالْمُتَصَدِّقَاتِ
And those who give in charity وَالْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ
means those who give in charity, and charity is the giving of wealth to draw near to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). It includes zakah, for it is the highest of charities, and it includes voluntary giving, such as voluntary charity, spending on a guest, on one's family, and on oneself. All of this is charity. What a person puts in his wife's mouth is charity, and what he eats is charity. Every bit of wealth one gives for the sake of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is charity. It may be said that "those who give in charity" is broader than "those who give of their wealth in what pleases Allah (Mighty and Majestic)," encompassing the doing of every good, for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Every tasbih (glorification) is charity, every tahliyah (praise) is charity, enjoining good is charity, forbidding evil is charity, removing a harmful object from the road is charity, helping a man with his mount, either by loading it or lifting his goods onto it, is charity, a kind word is charity, and every step you take to prayer is charity. And in the sexual intercourse of one of you is charity.
If we take this generality, then "those who give in charity, both men and women" includes anyone who performs any act of obedience to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). However, it is well known that when one hears "those who give in charity, both men and women," the first thing that comes to mind is that they are those who give of their wealth in what pleases Allah (Mighty and Majestic). As for His saying:
And those who give in charity, both men and women وَالْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ وَالْمُتَصَدِّقَاتِ
We have no need to lengthen the discussion on the exegesis of charities, what a person should give in charity, or whether it is permissible for a person to give all his wealth and leave his family poor, or not permissible. That has another place. The important point is that Allah the Exalted praised whom? He praised those who give in charity, both men and women.
