Those to whom the message reached, who were born in an environment where shirk (associating partners with Allah) was prevalent, and enmity toward the people of the correct creed was instilled in them: What is the ruling on such a man?

The student: The one to whom the message reached, but who was born in an environment where shirk (associating partners with Allah) was widespread... and they instilled in his heart enmity between him and those who possess the correct creed...?

The Shaykh : It appears that the argument has been established against him, because Allah established the argument against the mushrikin (those who associate partners with Allah), even though most mushrikin, or the common people among the mushrikin, do not understand.
The student: He is a Muslim, but...?

The Shaykh : But he is a Muslim who commits shirk (associating partners with Allah). For example, if it is said to him that going to the owner of a grave and supplicating to him is shirk (associating partners with Allah).
The student: He does not know this.
The Shaykh : If he does not know this, it means the argument has not been established against him. Our statement applies to a man who knows; he is told that this is shirk (associating partners with Allah), and he is told that Allah says
invoke Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion ادعوا الله مخلصين له الدين
[Ghafir 40:14]
, and he is told that Allah says
And your Lord said: 'Call upon Me, I will answer you. Verily, those who scorn my My worship, they will surely enter Hell in humiliation (40:60). وقال ربكم ادعوني استجب لكم إن الذين يستكبرون عن عبادتي سيدخلون جهنم داخرين
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3247Sahih (Darussalam)
. The verses are explained to him. But if merely a man from among the people comes to him and says, "Do you see that this is shirk (associating partners with Allah)?" that may not constitute the establishment of the argument. Do you understand?
