He has another question, asking: Is it permissible to travel to disbelieving countries and work there in permissible jobs, provided one maintains their creed?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He has another question, asking: Is it permissible to travel to disbelieving countries and work there in permissible jobs, provided one maintains their creed?

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that the one who travels to these countries puts his religion at risk, because they are lands of disbelief. A person, if he lives in an environment, is affected by it, except whom Allah protects. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Every child is born with a true faith of Islam (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone) and his parents convert him to Judaism or Christianity or Magianism كل مولود يولد على الفطرة، فأبواه يهودانه أو ينصرانه أو يمجسانه
Sahih al-Bukhari 1385
How can a believer be at ease living in a land where nothing is heard but the sounds of bells and trumpets, and where the words "Allahu Akbar, come to prayer" are not heard? A believer should, as much as possible, stay away from the lands of disbelief. However, if there is a need for it, and he has knowledge with which to refute the doubts of the missionaries, and he has worship that prevents him from deviation and inclination, then with these three conditions, we see that there is nothing wrong with traveling abroad.
I repeat the three conditions. First, the need for it.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : That he is traveling for specializations that are not available in his country. Second, that he has knowledge with which to refute the doubts of the misguiders, the missionaries, and non-missionaries.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : The third thing, the third condition, is that he has strong worship that prevents him from deviation and corruption. If these three conditions are met, there is nothing wrong with traveling. If one of them is missing, we see that it is not permissible to travel.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Especially for the young and the youth, for they are at risk. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) warned the one who hears about the Dajjal to stay away from him and ordered him to distance himself from him. He informed that a man will come to him while he thinks he will not be stopped, but he will not cease with him until he stops him from his religion. This is a reality, for most of those who travel to the lands of disbelief return with a religion and character different from what they traveled with. We ask Allah for safety and well-being.

The questioner : We ask Allah for safety.
