The questioner : He has another question, saying: My wife does not pray, and I told her to pray, but she did not listen. I ask for guidance on what I should do with her. May Allah guide you?

The Shaykh : You are responsible for your wife, so you must discipline her for leaving the prayer by whatever means of discipline you can, through encouragement, through warning, and through non-harmful beating, because you are responsible for her, as Allah the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones
[At-Tahrim 66:6]
If she refuses to pray and you gain no benefit from that, then it is obligatory for you to separate from her, because it is not permissible for you to keep her with you while she does not pray, since the one who leaves the prayer is a disbeliever who has exited the religion of Islam. And Allah Blessed and Exalted is He said:
then do not return them to the disbelievers; they are not lawful [wives] for them, nor are they lawful [husbands] for them
[Al-Mumtahanah 60:10]
