For the one who is arrogant, if he is arrogant with a right, he has boasted, and if he is arrogant without a right, he has tyrannized. So neither of these is permissible. If the man is from the superior group, such as mentioning the virtue of Banu Hashim, or Quraysh, or the Arabs, or some of them, let his share not be feeling his own virtue and looking at that, for he is mistaken in this; for the virtue of the group does not necessitate the virtue of the individual, as we have mentioned before. Indeed, some Abyssinian may be better in the sight of Allah than the majority of Quraysh. Then this looking leads to his deficiency and his falling out of the virtue, let alone that he should be arrogant with it or be arrogant."
