Reading from the author's text with commentary and collation of manuscripts: "And likewise, the scholars

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "And likewise, the scholars, if they establish the Book of Allah and understand what is in it of clear proofs, which are the arguments of Allah, and what is in it of guidance, which is beneficial knowledge and righteous action, and they establish the wisdom of Allah by which He sent His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), which is his Sunnah, they will find therein types of beneficial knowledge that encompass the knowledge of the general people, and they will then distinguish between the truth-seeker and the falsifier from among all creation, by the description of the testimony that Allah has made for this Ummah, where He says, Mighty and Majestic:
And thus we have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people وكذلك جعلناكم أمة وسطا لتكونوا شهداء على الناس
[Al-Baqarah 2:143]
And they will be thereby sufficient from what the innovators have innovated of defective arguments, which the theologians claim they use to defend the foundation of the religion, and from the defective opinion which the analogists claim they use to complete the branches of the religion. And whatever is correct of the arguments and sound of the opinion, that has a basis in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger; whoever understood it understood it, and whoever denied it denied it. And likewise, the worshippers, if they worship with what has been prescribed of words and actions"

The Shaykh : The worshippers
The reader: "And likewise, the worshippers, if they worship with what has been prescribed of words and actions, outwardly and inwardly, and taste the flavor of the good word and the righteous action by which Allah sent His Messenger, they will find therein noble states, high stations, and great results that suffice them from what may occur in its kind, such as al-taghbeer and the like"

The Shaykh : Like al-taghbeer
The reader: In my copy, it is al-taghbeer

The Shaykh : Not with a ba'
The reader: "That suffices them from what may occur in its kind, such as al-taghbeer and the like, of the innovated musical gatherings that divert from listening to the Qur'an, and types of dhikr and daily recitations that some people have fabricated, or in its degree, such as additions to acts of worship"

The Shaykh : We must know what the Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The worshippers, if they worship Allah with what He has prescribed of words and actions, outwardly and inwardly, and taste the flavor of the good word and the righteous action—yes, the good word—and taste the flavor of the good word and the righteous action by which the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent, they will find therein noble states, high stations, and great results that suffice them from what may occur here in its kind, such as al-taghbeer and the like. And there is no doubt that if a person worships Allah with what He has prescribed, he will find these stations, he will find the taste of faith, and he will find the comfort and tranquility that suffices from these innovated dhikrs like al-taghbeer.
Al-taghbeer: This is among the Sufis. They sit in a circle like this, with whips, and there is something on the carpet in front of them. Then, when they gather and become agitated, they strike this carpet. The one who is most intense and highest in rank is the one who raises the most dust from this carpet, because the stronger the strike, the more dust rises. For this reason, they call it al-taghbeer. It is an innovated dhikr, without doubt.
Likewise, there are now in the supplications, long rhymed supplications like chaff, in which there is no good. They turn to them from the supplications that came in the Book and the Sunnah. The supplications in the Book and the Sunnah are better than all of this, better than these rhymes that we read and hear, by a great deal. And these rhymed, fabricated supplications, even if some of them contain something of the truth, they are not like the authentic supplications in the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Yes, yes, yes, O Salim.
