Reading from the author's text with commentary and collation of manuscripts: "Know that the inhabitants of the graves, from among the prophets and the righteous, who are buried,
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "Know that the inhabitants of the graves, from among the prophets and the righteous, who are buried, dislike what is done at their graves to the utmost degree of dislike, just as Jesus (peace be upon him) dislikes what the Christians do to him, and just as the prophets of the Children of Israel used to dislike what the followers did. So let no Muslim think that the prohibition against taking graves as festivals and idols is a disparagement of their owners; rather, it is a form of honoring them".
The Shaykh : This is an important issue, but it requires evidence. The issue is that the inhabitants of the graves dislike the sins committed at their graves. The jurists have stated that the deceased is harmed by the commission of sins at his grave. This requires evidence that he is harmed by it. If evidence is found, then it is on my head and eyes (I accept it). If no evidence is found, then this is a matter of the unseen that cannot be affirmed with certainty. Although we are certain that these righteous people disliked sin during their lifetimes, but do they, when they are dead, feel it, dislike it, suffer from it, and wish they were alive so they could forbid the evil? This requires evidence. Who will take charge of this? Two of you, Ihab and Ali. Go back and give us the essence of it, if Allah wills. When? How long? A week is not too much, yes? In which lesson? Which lesson? Tomorrow, I mean? No, I give you three days.

The Shaykh : Yes

The Shaykh : It does not harm. I mean, now Hajjaj wants to say that the time is tight and does not allow for more than one prayer, or something like that? It is difficult for them, I am afraid. Do you have a lesson?
The reader: "Rather, it is a form of honoring them, and that is because when hearts are occupied with religious innovations, they turn away from the Sunnah. You will find that most of these people who sit at the graves are turning away from the Sunnah and the way of that buried person, and are occupied with his grave rather than what he commanded and called to. And among the honor of the prophets and the righteous is that people follow the righteous deeds to which they called, so that their reward increases with the increase of the rewards of those who followed them, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 4609Sahih (Al-Albani).
The hearts of groups of people became occupied with types of innovated worship: either in supplications, or in poetry, or in musical gatherings, or the like, because they turned away from what is prescribed, or from some of it—I mean the turning away of their hearts—even if they stood in the form of what is prescribed. Otherwise, whoever turns to the five daily prayers with his face and his heart, understanding what they contain of good words and righteous deeds, and caring for them with all care, will find them sufficient for him against everything in which he imagines there is good of their kind. And whoever listens to the speech of Allah and the speech of His Messenger with his mind, and reflects upon it with his heart, will find in it understanding, sweetness, blessing, and benefit that he does not find in any speech, whether rhymed or unrhymed. And whoever habituates himself to the prescribed supplication in its times, such as the last part of the night, after the prayers, and during prostration, and the like, will find it sufficient for him against every innovated supplication, whether in His essence or some of His attributes. So the sensible person".
The Shaykh : His statement (may Allah have mercy on him): "after the prayers" means at the end of them, for he (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Mu'adh:Bulugh al-Maram 2:219 He said: "The meaning is the end of the prayer", and he said: "The back of every thing is part of it", like the back of an animal, which is part of it, so that no one thinks that the Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) considers supplication after the prayer to be prescribed. Yes.
The reader: "So the sensible person should strive to follow the Sunnah in all of this, and substitute for every innovation he thinks is better, a type"
The Shaykh : That it is, that it is.
The reader: "and substitute for every innovation he thinks is better, a type of the Sunnah, for whoever seeks good is given it, and whoever avoids evil is protected from it".
The Shaykh : A good word. Whoever seeks good, meaning strives to obtain it, is given it. And whoever avoids evil and strives to stay away from it is successful and protected from it. Yes.
