Reading from the author's words, with commentary and collation of manuscripts: "And as for the report regarding Malik's recitation of this verse

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "And as for the report regarding Malik's recitation of this verse:
And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you
[An-Nisa 4:64]
the verse, it is—may Allah know best—invalid, for, to my knowledge, none of the Imams has mentioned this, and none of them has mentioned that it is recommended to ask for forgiveness after death, whether seeking forgiveness or otherwise. The recorded statements of him and his like contradict this. Such a thing is only known in a report mentioned by a group of later jurists, about a Bedouin who came to the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), recited this verse, and recited two lines of poetry:
O the best of those buried in the valley, its greatness *** So the valley and the hills became pure from their purity
My soul is the ransom for the grave in which you dwell *** In it is chastity, and in it is generosity and nobility
For this reason, a group of later jurists from the followers of al-Shafi'i and Ahmad recommended such a thing, and they argued with this report, which does not establish a legal ruling, especially in a matter like this, which, if it had been prescribed and recommended, the Companions and the Successors would have been more knowledgeable about it and more practiced in it than others. Indeed, the fulfillment of the need of such a Bedouin "
.

The Shaykh : There is no doubt in this that the authenticity of this report is impossible, and that it is invalid, as the Shaykh said.
Then, in the verse, Allah says:
And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you
[An-Nisa 4:64]
and He did not say: "if they wronged," and the difference between them is apparent, for "idh" (when) is for the past, and "idha" (if/when) is for the future, and the verse is in the context of a story that occurred during the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), so Allah the Exalted said:
And if, when they wronged themselves,
[An-Nisa 4:64]
they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them
[An-Nisa 4:64]
.
Also, the Messenger after his death cannot seek forgiveness for anyone, because his deeds are cut off by his death, as it is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
When a person dies, his deeds are cut off except for three
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1376Sahih (Darussalam)
He said:
but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious child, who prays for him (for the deceased).
Sahih Muslim 1631
. Yes.
The reader: "Indeed, the fulfillment of the need of such a Bedouin and his like has causes that have been elaborated in other places, and not everyone whose need is fulfilled ".

The Shaykh : This also passed us in the book, that Allah may answer a supplication due to the strength of its sincerity, or its necessity, or something similar, or it may also be a trial. Yes.
