Refuting the polytheists' argument using the verse: (( .

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
[An-Nisa 4:64]
But, may Allah protect us from that, they remained in their hypocrisy and stubbornness. This verse was used as evidence by those who call upon graves, who invoke the graves and seek forgiveness from them. They said: Because Allah said to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
[An-Nisa 4:64]
So if you sin, go to the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and seek forgiveness from Allah so that the Messenger will seek forgiveness for you. But these people have strayed far astray, because the verse is explicit. It says:
when they wronged themselves
[An-Nisa 4:64]
It says:
And if, when they wronged themselves,
[An-Nisa 4:64]
by what they committed, then they came to you during your life and sought forgiveness from Allah and the Messenger sought forgiveness for them
they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful.
[An-Nisa 4:64]
As for after the death of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), it is not possible for the Messenger to seek forgiveness for anyone; his deeds have been cut off, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious child, who prays for him (for the deceased).
Sahih Muslim 1631
So the Prophet's own deeds after his death are not possible, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) is written the reward of everything the Ummah learned. Whenever we do good and righteous deeds, whether obligatory or voluntary, his reward is written for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), because he is the one who taught us. This falls under his saying:
or knowledge (by which people) benefit
Sahih Muslim 1631
The conclusion is that there is no indication in this verse of what these callers claimed, these callers to the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he said:
But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe
[An-Nisa 4:65]
and we will discuss it, if Allah wills, in the next lesson.
The reciter: The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted in the context of mentioning verses in the chapter on the command to preserve the Sunnah: " And Allah the Exalted said:
But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission.
[An-Nisa 4:65]
"
.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned in the chapter on the command to preserve the Sunnah and its etiquettes.
