Benefits of the Verse of al-Shura: [11_12].

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It is not hidden from us that the verse contains multiple attributes of Allah. First, the negation of likening Allah to creation, as in His saying:
There is nothing like unto Him ليس كمثله شيء
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
. Why was this negated? It was negated because of the perfection of His attributes, Mighty and Majestic is He; there is nothing comparable to Him.
Among its benefits is the affirmation of the All-Hearing and the All-Seeing. These are two of the names of Allah. And al-'Alim (the All-Knowing), if we do not consider it a predicate and an attribute, is a name. However, the name of Allah al-'Alim has come in many verses.
Among the benefits of the verse is the affirmation of hearing and sight for Allah. Where is this taken from?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : From His saying:
The All-Hearing, the All-Seeing السميع البصير
, because every name of Allah must necessarily include the attribute from which it is derived.
Among the benefits of the noble verse is the comprehensiveness of the ownership and management of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, as in His saying:
To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth له مقاليد السماوات والأرض
[Az-Zumar 39:63]
.
Among its benefits is that He has no partner in that. Where is this taken from? From the fronting of the predicate:
To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth له مقاليد السماوات والأرض
[Az-Zumar 39:63]
.
Among its benefits is that He expands provision for whom He wills and restricts it. So the matter is in His hand, thus.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : So if we see a rich person, we say this is not from his earnings, meaning it is not merely from his earnings. And there is no doubt that earnings have an effect, but it is in the hand of Allah, Mighty and Majestic.
Among its benefits is also that He restricts. So if someone asks, is there a cause other than a person's worldly earnings for the expansion of provision? We say yes, among them is:
The student: Ties of kinship.

The Shaykh : Maintaining ties of kinship.
He who likes that his sustenance should be expanded and his age may be lengthened should join the tie of kinship. من أحب أن يبسط له في رزقه وينسأ له في أثره فليصل رحمه
Sahih Muslim 2557b
This has been difficult for some scholars, and they said this contradicts His saying, Exalted is He:
So when their time has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]. إذا جاء أجلهم لا يستأخرون ساعة ولا يستقدمون
[Al-A'raf 7:34]
. Because the Messenger informed that if you maintain ties of kinship, Allah will extend your lifespan and increase your age. It is said: There is no difficulty. If you find it difficult that age is increased, then find it difficult that provision is increased as well, even though provision is written. So
