The Benefits of the Verse.

The Shaykh : We return to the benefits of the verse.
Among the benefits of this noble verse is that no one knows when the Hour will occur. The evidence for this is the restriction in His saying:[Luqman 31:34]
And among the benefits of this hadith is also that no one knows when the rain that brings the bounty will descend. This is based on His saying: If it is Allah the Exalted who sends down the bounty, then the One who sends it down knows it better than anyone else. This is the reason for the shift from saying "and He knows when the bounty will descend" to saying: If someone asks, "Do we not hear on the radio that they say, for example, that it will rain tomorrow or something similar? What is the answer?" The answer is from two angles. First, Allah the Exalted said: And I told you that the bounty is the rain. What is it that causes the plants to grow? No one knows this. Even if we know that it will rain tomorrow, will that rain be a bounty?
The student : Allah knows best
The Shaykh : It may be, and it may not be, and no one knows.
Second, we say that those who speak about the weather and that it will rain tomorrow in a certain place are speaking about a tangible matter, not a hidden one. It is the conditioning of the atmosphere, because there are precise instruments that indicate whether the atmosphere is prepared for rain or not. However, there is much error in this. Third, do those who speak about the weather know when the rain will descend in two or three years? No. Their knowledge is limited to twenty-four hours, or thirty-six hours, or something similar. It is not for the distant future, so it does not contradict this verse.
[Luqman 31:34] Among the benefits of this hadith is that no one knows what is in the wombs except Allah.
The student: The verse, O Shaykh.
The Shaykh : Yes... Correct. In this verse, it is stated that no one knows what is in the wombs except Allah, Mighty and Majestic. This is general for all matters related to pregnancy, as we have explained. If someone asks, "Do they not now see whether what is in the womb is a male or a female? Does this contradict the verse?"
The student: No.
The Shaykh : The answer is that it does not contradict it, because His saying:[Luqman 31:34] includes all related matters. These people do not know what is in the wombs, whether male or female, except after it is created and becomes a male, meaning after it is created and becomes a male or female. As for when it is in the stage of a drop of sperm, they do not know. And if medicine advances and they come to know that it is a male or female while it is still a drop of sperm, we say that the matters related to pregnancy are not limited to it being a male or female, but they include:
The student: Its work and its term.
The Shaykh : Its work and its term, its provision, and so on. And this cannot be known.
Among the benefits of this hadith, this noble verse, is that a person does not know what he will earn tomorrow. Even if he intends to do such and such, he does not know whether it will happen or not. For this reason, Allah said to His Prophet: What is it?
The student: ...
The Shaykh :[Al-An'am 6:111]
Now, if someone says, "I will do such and such tomorrow, I will visit so-and-so," does this mean that he knows that he will visit him, or is he reporting what is in his heart and his intention?
The student: The second.
The Shaykh : The second option: Undoubtedly, he is reporting what is in his heart now. For this reason, if he says, "I will visit so-and-so tomorrow," and he does not intend the action but intends to report what is in his heart, then there is no harm in omitting the mention of Allah's will.[Al-Kahf 18:23-24] And it is obligatory for you to couple it with the will of Allah because you do not know whether you will do it or not. But if you say, "I will visit so-and-so tomorrow," reporting what is in your heart, meaning this is your intention, is this permissible?
The student: Yes.
The Shaykh : Without mentioning the will of Allah, it is permissible.
The student: Yes.
The Shaykh : Yes. And for this reason, the noble verse came: Do it. And if you say, "I intend to do it," then there is no harm in that.
Among the benefits, yes, among the benefits of this verse, in the sentence we are discussing, is that whoever claims knowledge of the unseen in the future is a disbeliever. The evidence for this is that it is a denial of His saying:[Luqman 31:34] If you do not know what you will earn, then your lack of knowledge of what others earn, what others earn,
The student: Is all the more so.
The Shaykh : is even more so. So whoever claims knowledge of the unseen in the future, whether it relates to the action of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, or the action of people, or the action of himself, he is denying this verse. And denying the Qur'an is clear disbelief.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is that a person does not know the place of his death, and likewise he does not know
The student: The time.
The Shaykh : The time of his death. And this is something in which Allah the Exalted has exclusive knowledge. One of our trustworthy companions told me that they were on a Hajj on camels before cars came, and they left Mecca with a man whose mother was sick. The people departed in the last part of the night, and this man sat with his mother to nurse her. When morning came, he found that the people had gone. He went after them after settling his mother's place. He went after them and got lost. It was in the Hijaz mountains, all green and lush. He kept walking until the day became high, and then he found a small tent of Bedouins. He went to them, greeted them, and asked, "Where is the road to Najd?" They said, "The road to Najd is far behind you, but wait, let the camel rest, and we will guide you." He said that when he let his camel rest and took his mother off the camel, as soon as she reached the ground, her soul departed. Even though he did not know about this place at all and did not think he would reach it, because they were from Unaizah. But Allah the Exalted decreed that this mother would die in that place. The man was lost trying to reach the place where Allah the Exalted knew the woman would die. And there are many such cases. Many people, you find, do not leave their town and do not think of leaving. You find a farmer in his farm since he was a child. Then when his term approaches, Allah gives him a need in a certain place, so he travels, even for treatment. He travels for treatment abroad until he dies
The student: There.
The Shaykh : In the place where Allah decreed that he would die.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is the knowledge of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and His expertise. Knowledge includes knowledge of the apparent and the hidden, and expertise is knowledge of the hidden matters. Based on this, is it said that these two attributes are repeated in the verse, and that the meaning of:[Luqman 31:34] is that Allah is All-Knowing, All-Knowing? Or not? Because of the generality and specificity between them. Knowledge includes knowledge of the apparent and the hidden, and expertise is specific to knowledge of the hidden. So in this verse, there is the affirmation of two of the names of Allah, which are Al-'Alim (The All-Knowing) and Al-Khabir (The All-Aware), and the affirmation of two of the attributes of Allah, which are knowledge and what?
The student: And expertise.
The Shaykh : And expertise.
Among the benefits of this noble verse is that no one knows when the Hour will occur. The evidence for this is the restriction in His saying:
Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour
إن الله عنده علم الساعةAnd among the benefits of this hadith is also that no one knows when the rain that brings the bounty will descend. This is based on His saying:
And He sends down the rain
وينزل الغيثAnd He sends down the rain
وينزل الغيثAnd He sends down the rain
وينزل الغيثThe student : Allah knows best
