Benefits of the verses from the preceding Surat al-Fajr.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In this noble verse, in these verses, there is the affirmation of the coming of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). As we said a moment ago, and as we will say until we meet Allah (Mighty and Majestic), whatever Allah attributes to Himself is established for Him and for no other. So we say that in these verses there is the affirmation of the coming of Allah in truth, but in what manner?
The student : Allah knows best

The Shaykh : Allah knows best; we do not know. Allah informed us that He comes, but He did not inform us how He comes. It is incumbent upon us to have obedience and good manners with Allah: we say He comes in a manner befitting His majesty and greatness, and we know nothing about the manner of His coming. Do you understand? Good.
So He comes in truth, and we believe in that. Good. Does He come, for example, quickly or slowly? We do not know, we do not know. Sometimes we know how He comes, as it was mentioned in the hadith:
and he who walks towards Me I rush towards him من أتاني يمشي أتيته هرولة
Sahih Muslim 2687a
But on the Day of Resurrection, this was not mentioned. We do not know whether He comes running, or walking, or in what description. We do not know. We believe that He comes (Mighty and Majestic) in truth. Do the angels come or not?
The student: They come.

The Shaykh : How do they come? Allah knows best. But we know that they come in rows, that they come in rows, in rows. As for how, we do not know; Allah knows best. Because these are matters of the unseen that the minds do not grasp and to which analogical reasoning does not apply. It is incumbent upon us to believe in them as they came, and to say, "This is what Allah and His Messenger said." It is incumbent upon us to believe in them, and it is incumbent upon us to have good manners with Allah, and not to speak of what we have not been tasked with. And look, my brothers, the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them)—by Allah, we are not more in love with knowledge than they were, nor more in revering Allah and His Messenger. And yet, when the Messenger would mention something of this, they did not ask about its manner, nor did they say, "Our minds reject this, so we do not believe in it." Rather, they said, "We hear and we obey." Now, by Allah, if you read such verses and hadiths to an old woman among the people, you would find her trembling out of fear of Allah... and believing that this is the truth and that Allah comes in truth. Yes. For this reason, many of the great theologians have stated explicitly that they die upon the religion of the old women. Why? Because they knew that they were wandering lost in what they were pursuing, which they called reason. And safety lies in believing without delving into anything. If our minds could grasp what is in these verses and other truths, He would have made it clear to us. But by His mercy, He concealed it from us so that we would be completely submissive to the report. If a person did not believe in a report except what his mind grasped, then the truth would be a follower
The student: Of desires.

The Shaykh : Yes, of desires.
But if the Truth had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away. ولو اتبع الحق أهواءهم لفسدت السماوات والأرض ومن فيهن بل أتيناهم بذكرهم فهم عن ذكرهم معرضون
[Al-Mu'minun 23:71]
So I hope, my brothers, from here and in your lands, that you make people see these matters, and that you say, "Matters of the unseen do not involve analogical reasoning, and what concerns the Creator can never be compared to His creation. Believe in this." For example, now, Hell is brought, led by seventy thousand reins. Do we know now how this crisis is?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Do we know its thickness or its strength? We do not know. Perhaps the rein is stronger than a thousand meters; we do not know. But we believe that it is led by a rein, and that each rein is not led by one person, but by seventy thousand. Someone might say, "How is this? It is brought, and the earth is in this state?" We say, "My brother, first believe in this. And if you believe, the matter becomes easy for you. As for exposing the texts to your mind, if it approves, you believe, and if not, you interpret or deny. This is not correct. You are not a servant of Allah; you are a servant of your desires. And there is no analogical reasoning in matters of the unseen. Lower your heads, my brothers. I repeat this to you so that you may be safe in your creed, and so that you may keep others safe under your hands, if Allah wills. And the most important thing is complete submission to Allah in reality, to what is required, and believing in the report. This is the most important thing. If we were to open the door of reason, one would say, "Why were we obligated four prayers, five prayers? Why not ten, or three, or two in the morning... during the day? This does not happen. These are matters that the mind cannot grasp. It is incumbent upon us to submit so that we may be truly Muslims to Allah. And I ask Allah for safety for me and for you. Yes."
