Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He said: "And among them are: the angels assigned to the people of Paradise". Angels who are assigned to congratulate the people of Paradise and bring them joy.
"
And the angels will enter upon them from every gate, [saying], (24) "Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home." والملائكة يدخلون عليهم من كل باب * سلام عليكم بما صبرتم فنعم عقبى الدار
[Ar-Ra'd 13:23-24]
"
. And this, glory be to Allah, will be a great joy for the person when the angels, the angels of the Most Merciful (Mighty and Majestic), receive him,
Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home." يقولون سلام عليكم بما صبرتم فنعم عقبى الدار
[Ar-Ra'd 13:24]
and His saying:
will enter upon them from every gate, [saying], (24) "Peace be upon you يدخلون عليهم من كل باب سلام عليكم
[Ar-Ra'd 13:23-24]
indicates that there are gates in Paradise, many gates in Paradise, from every gate
Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured يقولون سلام عليكم بما صبرتم
[Ar-Ra'd 13:24]
and it indicates that the one entering says upon his entry, what? Peace be upon you, as the Sunnah has come, when you seek permission from a person, say: Peace be upon you. Yes.
Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured سلام عليكم بما صبرتم
[Ar-Ra'd 13:24]
The baa here is for causality, what did you have patience with? With the three matters known to the scholars, which are patience with the obedience of Allah, patience from the disobedience of Allah, and patience with the decrees of Allah. And the highest of these types is patience with obedience, then patience from disobedience, then patience with the decrees, this is the principle in these three types that the highest of them is patience with obedience, because in patience with obedience there is hardship in restraining the soul to it and hardship in tiring the body with it, do you agree with this? Good. In patience from disobedience there is hardship in restraining the soul from it only. But the body is at ease, because it is only left. Patience with the decrees of Allah has no hardship, except that the person thinks, and says: the matter happened, did I have patience or did I not have patience. And for this reason some scholars said regarding the one who is struck with a calamity: "Either he has patience with the patience of the noble, or he forgets with the forgetting of the beasts", because the calamity, however great it is, will be forgotten according to the distractions from remembering it, perhaps a person will forget his calamity if he is a student of knowledge, simply by sitting in one or two gatherings, he forgets, because he is occupied with knowledge. The merchant perhaps will forget the calamity if he sits in his shop at midday or in the evening, meaning according to the situation.
The person who has no work, this one will remain with the sadness in his heart for a period. And the end of the matter is that he will forget.
So patience is divided into? How many? Patience with?
The student: The obedience of Allah.

The Shaykh : Patience.
The student: From the disobedience.

The Shaykh : Patience with the decrees of Allah, and the highest of them is the first, then the second, then the third.
The fasting person, does he attain patience with the three matters, or not? He has patience with the obedience of Allah so he fasts, he has patience from the disobedience of Allah so he does not break the fast, he has patience with the decrees of Allah with what? With hunger and thirst and sadness and the like of that.
The patience of Yusuf (peace be upon him), how many types did it attain?
The student: Three.

The Shaykh : Good, count them?
The student: Patience from the obedience of Allah.

The Shaykh : In what?
The student: In patience with the oneness of Allah.

The Shaykh : Good, and where?
The student:
And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham واتبعت ملة آبائي إبراهيم
[Yusuf 12:38]
.

The Shaykh : Very well.
The student: And from the disobedience of Allah, clear.

The Shaykh : From the disobedience of Allah with what?
The student: That he would have intercourse with the wife of the Aziz.

The Shaykh : Yes, he restrained himself from committing the sin with the wife of the Aziz.
The student: And with the decrees of Allah with the imprisonment.

The Shaykh : With the decrees of Allah, meaning the imprisonment. So patience is three types. And also patience with the calling to Allah, when the two prisoners consulted him
O [my] two companions of prison, are separate lords better or Allah, the One, the Prevailing? قال يا صاحبي السجن أأرباب متفرقون خير أم الله الواحد القهار
[Yusuf 12:39]
. And this is a matter that the caller to Allah must pay attention to, that he should seize the opportunity, that he should seize the opportunity, the one who comes to you asking now is ready to comply with what you say, seize the opportunity, seize the opportunity.
So for example, if a person comes to you asking and he has shaved his beard. Yes? Give him the fatwa and show him a face of kindness and openness, then say to him: if there is someone around you, whisper in his ear, and if there is no one around you, then with normal speech, say to him and advise him, because seizing opportunities with such matters is very important.
