The Shaykh : Because he (peace and blessings be upon him) is a Messenger to all creation, he observes their actions to guide them to the straight path. There is no doubt that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) observed this man.
Among the benefits of this hadith is the permissibility of repeating the greeting of peace, even if the interval is not long. What is the evidence? That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) approved this man’s repetition of the greeting.
Another benefit is that if a person greets someone, even if he repeats the greeting, and if that repetition is prescribed, then the greeting should be returned. But if his greeting is not prescribed, should it be returned or not? The answer is no; it is not recommended to return the greeting if it is not prescribed. For this reason, the jurists (may Allah have mercy on them) said that if a person greets someone in a situation where greeting is not recommended, such as one who is occupied with recitation or the like, then it is not obligatory to return the greeting to him. And what indicates this is that the Companions, when they wanted to ask the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) a question, did not greet him as long as they were sitting with him, because there was no need for him to greet when he wanted to ask a question. The greeting is for the one who arrives, or for one who is in the position of the one who arrives.
Among the benefits of this hadith is the permissibility of approving a person’s defective action in order to correct the action. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) approved the man’s prayer in the third instance, although he knew that if the man had knowledge, he would have been at ease in his prayer. But with the condition, meaning, if we approve a defective action, it is on the condition that the correct way is clarified. And what indicates this is the story of 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) regarding Barirah,, on the slave woman herself , meaning she paid for her in cash, not on installments. And you know that the contract of manumission must be on installments. But do you know what the contract of manumission is?
The student: Yes.
The Shaykh : The slave purchasing himself from his master,, although this condition is invalid, is it invalid or valid?
The student: Invalid.
The Shaykh : Invalid; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) invalidated it. He only approved her regarding this invalidity in order to clarify its invalidity, even if it was stipulated. And this is a benefit. Therefore, he stipulated the loyalty for them and invalidated the condition, and invalidated the condition. So his approval of her condition, although it is defective, and all defective conditions are forbidden, whether a person commits to them or not, for what purpose? To clarify that a defective condition is not executed, even if it is stipulated. The approval of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) of this man’s invalid prayer was in order to clarify that whoever performs an invalid prayer, it does not suffice for him until he establishes it as Allah has commanded. Shall we take questions or shall we proceed?
The student: We take questions.
The Shaykh : Yes?
The questioner : The saying of the Messenger, although he did not make a mistake in facing it.
The Shaykh : Yes.
The questioner : How is his mention directed?
The Shaykh : Yes, this is a problem. If you wish, shall we wait until we connect it?
The questioner : We wait.
The Shaykh : Yes?
The questioner : May Allah reward you. If a slave... himself, to whom does the loyalty belong when he fulfills the contract of manumission?

And what indicates this is the story of 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) regarding Barirah,
Barirah was a slave woman belonging to a group of the Ansar who contracted manumission with her; they contracted manumission with her, meaning they sold her to herself.
بريرة كانت أمة لقوم من الأنصار كاتبوها، كاتبوها يعني باعوا نفسها عليهاFor nine ounces of silver. The slave woman went out seeking help from the people and came to 'Aishah. She said to her: If your family is willing that I pay it for them and your loyalty is mine, I will do it.
على تسع أواق من الفضّة خرجت الأمة تطلب من النّاس المعونة فأتت إلى عائشة وقالت لها عائشة: إن أراد أهلك أن أعدّها لهم وولاؤك لي فعلتThe student: Yes.
The Shaykh : The slave purchasing himself from his master,
She went to her family and said to them, but they said no, the loyalty is ours. So the slave woman returned to 'Aishah and said that her family refused except that the loyalty be theirs. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was hearing, so he said: Take her and stipulate the loyalty for them. So she took her and stipulated the loyalty.
The student: Invalid.
The Shaykh : Invalid; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) invalidated it. He only approved her regarding this invalidity in order to clarify its invalidity, even if it was stipulated. And this is a benefit. Therefore, he stipulated the loyalty for them
Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) stood up among them as a preacher.
ثمّ قام النّبيّ صلّى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلّم فيهم خطيباThe student: We take questions.
The Shaykh : Yes?
