Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Ibn Shihab said: And Abu Salama ibn Abd al-Rahman informed me that Jabir ibn Abd Allah al-Ansari said, while he was narrating about the interval of revelation: In his narration, he said: While I was walking, I heard a voice from the sky. I raised my eyes and saw the angel who had come to me at al-Hira sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I was terrified of him, so I returned and said, "Cover me, cover me." Then Allah the Exalted revealed: "O you who is wrapped in a cloak, arise and warn, and your Lord, glorify, and keep away from the idolaters." Until He said: "And the poets, only the lost follow them." So the revelation became intense and continuous..
Abdullah ibn Yusuf and Abu Salih followed him in this narration, and Hisham ibn Rabad followed him from al-Zuhri. And Yunus and Ma'mar said: "Its beginnings."
