Explanation of the Book: The Beginning of Revelation, Faith, and Knowledge-09b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Imran ibn Maysarah narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Warith narrated to us from Abu al-Tayyih from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among the signs of the Hour is that knowledge will be taken away, ignorance will become prevalent, intoxicants will be drunk, and fornication will become widespread."

The Shaykh : We seek help from Allah. Knowledge is taken away by the death of its people, and perhaps also by negligence toward it and forgetting it. But the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
That Allah does not take away knowledge by plucking it from the hearts of the scholars, but He takes it away by the death of the scholars أن الله لا يقبض العلم انتزاعاً من صدور العلماء ، ولكن يقبضه بموت العلماء
The second is: ignorance becomes prevalent, and this is the result of knowledge being taken away, because when a thing is removed, its opposite becomes established. The third is: intoxicants are drunk, meaning they are drunk as if there is nothing wrong with them, and fornication becomes widespread, may Allah protect us from that. And some of this has already occurred, meaning some of these things have appeared and become manifest.
