What is the ruling on attributing an action to oneself while acknowledging that the merit belongs to Allah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Attributing an action to oneself is permissible, to the extent that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding his uncle Abu Talib:
Were it not for me, he would have been in the bottom-most depth of the Fire. لولا أنا لكان في الدرك الأسفل من النار
Sahih al-Bukhari 6208
However, a person attributes it to himself in the sense of, as this disbeliever said:
This is for me هذا لي
This is due to my work, or it came to me from Allah because I am deserving of it. This is what is prohibited. Yes.
