The Shaykh’s warning about the invalidity of the hadith (Keep your mosques free of your children, your madmen, and the execution of your hudud) and clarification of the Sunnah regarding bringing children to the mosques

The Shaykh : It has become well-known on the tongues of people that there is a hadith that people circulate which has no basis from the Master of People, and that is their saying: Sunan Ibn Majah 750 This hadith is weak by the consensus of the scholars of hadith. And among the effects of this hadith were the bad effects in the Ummah, in that the Ummah today lives in its mosques without children attending them, contrary to how things were in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). For it came in "Sahih al-Bukhari" that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) ; that is, he (peace be upon him) would enter the prayer intending to lengthen it according to the prayer, whether it was the Fajr prayer or the 'Isha' prayer, so he would intend to lengthen it according to the known Sunnah with him (peace be upon him). But he would be surprised to hear the crying of a child, and he would know from the sound that it was a small child who was longing to meet his mother, and she was occupied with her prayer away from him. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would think about this crying and connect the one crying with his mother, so he would shorten the prayer, shortening the recitation to free the mother for that boy. So this hadith indicates that it was among his way (peace be upon him) to allow people, men and women, to bring children to the mosque. Otherwise, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would have done so, and far is it from him to do as many of the imams of mosques do today, who drive the children away and take offense at their fathers who bring them to the mosques. If the way of the Messenger had been as these people do, he would not have shortened the recitation, but rather he would have recited the way that was followed with him, and then afterwards he would have forbidden those who brought the small children to the mosque. None of that was the case at all. On the contrary, he (peace be upon him) would bring some of his children to the mosque, sometimes one who could not walk and sometimes one who could walk. It also came in "Sahih al-Bukhari": "That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) entered the mosque one day, and on his shoulders was Ummaymah, the daughter of his daughter Zaynab, Ummaymah the daughter of his daughter Zaynab, and she was on his shoulders. So he began the prayer leading the people, and the small girl was on his shoulders. Then he bowed, and when he bowed, he took her from his shoulders and placed her on the ground gently. Then he completed the rak'ah. When he stood up from it to the second rak'ah, he took her and placed her where she had been before on his shoulders (peace be upon him), and so on until he prayed four rak'ahs with the people," placing her down and lifting her up, and he said the taslim with them after he had prayed four rak'ahs. And another time he (peace be upon him) prayed the 'Asr prayer, so he prostrated in the middle of this prayer a prostration in which he lengthened it contrary to his custom (peace be upon him), until it occurred to some of the worshippers behind him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had died while he was praying. So one of them raised his head from the prostration intending to be reassured about his Prophet (peace be upon him), and behold, he saw a wondrous sight: he saw him still prostrating, and his son al-Hasan or al-Husayn was riding on him. So the man’s heart was reassured, and he returned to prostration. When he (peace be upon him) said the taslim from the prayer, they said: O Messenger of Allah, you prostrated in the middle of your prayer a prostration in which you lengthened it. So he (peace be upon him) said: إن ابني هذا - أشار إلى الحسن أو الحسين - إن ابني هذا كان قد ارتَحَلَني My son here – he pointed to al-Hasan or al-Husayn – my son here had taken me as a mount, look at the expression of the polite Messenger ارتحلني had taken me as a mount; meaning he took me as a mount, meaning he rode me, فكرهت أن أعجله so I disliked to hasten him, فكرهت أن أعجله so I disliked to hasten him; that is, so I lengthened the prostration until he was satisfied or until this child was satisfied with his desire to ride on the back of his grandfather (peace be upon him). Such was his way; so where is this way from what they attribute to the Messenger (peace be upon him) of the previously mentioned hadith, which is undoubtedly a false hadith, namely: جنِّبوا مساجدكم صبيانكم ومجانينكم وإقامة حدودكم Keep your infants, your insane and your evil ones away from your mosques.
