Is it a breach of reliance upon Allah for a man to depend on a relative who holds authority in the state to extricate him from punishment if he commits some of the prohibited acts?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : For example, a man whose father is an officer or a chief, or something like that, hopes that if he does certain things, he will rely on him to get him out of it.

The Shaykh : Yes, this is a type of hidden shirk (associating partners with Allah) or minor shirk, because he is now attaching his hope to him. But if the incident has already occurred, there is no harm in seeking the help of your brothers to resolve it.

The questioner : Not before it occurs.

The Shaykh : Not before it occurs. Do not make the matter anything but with Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Also, there is a problem in this if a person wants to use the status and authority of this man in an unlawful matter that is not his right. This is a problem, and it leads to another path, because some people, may Allah protect us from that, use their authority to approach criminals and others, and this is forbidden.
