The Ruling on Praying in the Courtyard of the Mosque, Congregational Prayer Inside It, and Supplication After the Iqamah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: From Abdulaziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz to the honorable brother (A. F. M.), may Allah protect him. Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. After that:
I refer to your inquiry, registered with the Department of Scientific Research and Ifta under number 1732 and dated 24/4/1408 AH, in which you ask about praying in the courtyard of the mosque, congregational prayer inside it, and supplication after the iqamah.

A: I inform you that there is no harm in praying in the courtyard of the mosque if the entire congregation is praying there. However, if the congregation is praying inside the mosque, there is no harm in praying in the courtyard if the rows are connected; otherwise, it is obligatory to pray with the people inside. This is based on what is established in the hadiths from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the obligation of completing the first row, then the next.
As for supplication after the iqamah, there is no blame on one who does so, provided it is not made a continuous habit; because we do not know of anything narrated regarding this.
May Allah guide everyone to what brings Him pleasure, and peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
