The prescribed orientation of the deceased in the grave toward the qiblah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: The questioner, A.M.A. from Khartoum, says in his question: I have noticed in one of the cemeteries in my country that some graves are misaligned from the direction of the qiblah, some old and some new. In fact, some graves in which no one has been buried yet are also misaligned from the direction of the qiblah. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah regarding this? May Allah reward you with good.

A: It is prescribed to orient the deceased in the grave toward the qiblah; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the Ka'bah:
It is your qiblah, whether you are alive or deadإنها قبلتكم أحياء وأمواتًا
Therefore, it is obligatory for those in charge of digging graves, and for Muslims in general, to observe this, in accordance with the aforementioned hadith. May Allah guide the Muslims to all that is good.
