Is fasting valid based on the radio announcement?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Is fasting valid based on the radio announcement?

Answer: It is permissible for those responsible for the affairs of Muslims in your country and elsewhere to rely on the radio announcement if it comes from an Islamic state that relies on the sighting of the crescent moon rather than on calculation. As for individual Muslims, they must fast following their leaders and break their fast with them; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The fast is the day the people fast, the breaking of the fast is the day the people break their fast, and the sacrifice is the day the people sacrifice.الصوم يوم تصومون، والفطر يوم تفطرون، والأضحى يوم تضحون
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 697Hasan (Darussalam)
It was narrated by Abu Dawud from Abu Hurayrah with a good chain, and it has corroborating narrations from the hadith of Aishah and others. May Allah grant success.
