The ruling on using eye drops for a person who is fasting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: The sister S. L. L. from Kuwait says in her question: Does using eye drops during the day in Ramadan break the fast or not?

Answer: The correct view is that eye drops do not break the fast, even though there is disagreement among the scholars on this matter, as some of them said: If its taste reaches the throat, then it breaks the fast. The correct view is that it does not break the fast in any case; because the eye is not a passage. However, if one uses it out of caution and to avoid the disagreement, and finds its taste in his throat, there is no harm. Otherwise, the correct view is that it does not break the fast, whether it is in the eye or in the ear.
