Continuation of the explanation of the author's statement: "And they love the household of the Messenger of Allah and support them."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, as for the household of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the people of the Sunnah and the community support and love the household of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). The people of the Sunnah and the community love the household of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) for two reasons: for their faith, and for their kinship with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). They never dislike them. However, they do not say what the Rafidah said in their defective premise: "Whoever loves Abu Bakr and 'Umar has hated 'Ali." What is this premise? It is a Satanic premise. It means that it is impossible for the love of 'Umar, the love of Abu Bakr, and the love of 'Ali to coexist in the heart of a person? He says: It is impossible; whoever loves Abu Bakr and 'Umar has hated 'Ali. Consequently, it is impossible for us to love 'Ali unless we hate Abu Bakr and 'Umar. It is as if Abu Bakr and 'Umar were enemies of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, even though 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) used to praise them on the pulpit in the mosque. He said:
The best of this ummah after its Prophet is Abu Bakr, then ‘Umar
Musnad Ahmad 1052Da'if (Darussalam)
The transmission of this from him (may Allah be pleased with him) is mass-transmitted. So, does the one who says this love them? Or does he dislike them?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : How, Hajjaj? Where is the one who says this about them? No doubt he loves them. He declares that they are the best of the nation after its Prophet. No doubt he loves them. So we say: We testify to Allah regarding our love for the household of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his relatives. We love them out of love for Allah and His Messenger. We love them out of love for Allah and His Messenger. When a person loves someone, he naturally loves their relatives. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is the most beloved of people to us, so we love his relatives. This is the methodology of the people of the Sunnah and the community. They love the household of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Who is among his household? His wives are undoubtedly among his household, by the text of the Qur'an. Allah the Exalted said:
(28) O Prophet, say to your wives, "If you should desire the worldly life and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and give you a gracious release. (29) But if you should desire Allah and His Messenger and the home of the Hereafter - then indeed, Allah has prepared for the doers of good among you a great reward." (30) O wives of the Prophet, whoever of you should commit a clear immorality - for her the punishment would be doubled two fold, and ever is that, for Allah, easy.
[Al-Ahzab 33:28-30]
Who is all this speech about? It is about the wives of the Prophet.
(31) And whoever of you devoutly obeys Allah and His Messenger and does righteousness - We will give her her reward twice; and We have prepared for her a noble provision. (32) O wives of the Prophet, you are not like anyone among women. If you fear Allah, then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate speech.
[Al-Ahzab 33:31-32]
All the speech now is about the wives of the Prophet.
And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance. And establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger
[Al-Ahzab 33:33]
Who is all this about? It is about the wives of the Prophet.
Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity [of sin], O people of the [Prophet's] household, and to purify you with [extensive] purification.
[Al-Ahzab 33:33]
Who does this mean? That the address is directed to these women.
[Prophet's] household, and to purify you with [extensive] purification. (34) And remember what is recited in your houses of the verses of Allah and wisdom
[Al-Ahzab 33:33-34]
.
So, the household here undoubtedly includes the wives of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Likewise, the family of the Messenger, the household, includes his relatives: Fatimah, 'Ali, al-Hasan, al-Husayn, and others among the relatives of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), as well as Ibn 'Abbas, al-'Abbas ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib, and his sons. All of these are among the household.
So we love them for their kinship with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and for their faith in Allah and the Last Day.
If they disbelieved, if they were disbelievers, then we would not love them, even if they were relatives of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Abu Lahab, the uncle of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), it is not permissible for us to love him under any circumstances. Rather, it is obligatory for us to dislike him for his disbelief and for his harm to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Abu Talib: it is obligatory for us to dislike him. Why? For his disbelief, because he is a disbeliever. But we love the actions he performed for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), such as protecting the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), defending him, and standing up for him. Good.
He said, may Allah have mercy on him: "They love the household of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and support them"
Meaning: They make them among their allies. The term "wali" (ally) is used for several meanings: it is used for the close friend, the relative, the one in charge of affairs, and other forms of allegiance and support. Here, "support" (tawalli) includes supporting the companions, the household of the Messenger, through assistance, friendship, and love.
