Clarifying the error in the argument of those who claim it is a recommended practice to place the right hand over the left after rising from bowing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : From here, I say: Some of the distinguished scholars who argue today that it is a recommended practice to place the right hand over the left when raising the head from bowing—there is absolutely no hadith in this regard that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to place his right hand over his left in prayer when he raised his head from bowing. There is no such hadith. So where did they take it from? For example, if you wanted to do it and did not, Allah willing, but they did. They argued using a general text. I wish this general text were a verse in the Qur'an or a hadith narrated from the Messenger (peace be upon him). No, no, it is not from the Shaykh of that, but rather a general text from a Companion in his own wording, order, and language. It is not the word of Allah, nor the wording of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Like the hadith of Wa'il ibn Hujr, for example: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to place his right hand over his left when he stood in prayer." My brother, "stood in prayer"—what standing is this? This is a general, absolute text. Therefore, it is not sufficient for us to establish a recommended practice with such a general text that no one from the Salaf or the Khalaf, absolutely, affirmed except for a narration reported from Imam Ahmad in the books of the Hanbalis that "he was asked about the placement after raising the head from bowing, and he said: There is no harm in that." The phrase "there is no harm in that" does not mean it is a recommended practice; rather, it is closer to denying this placement than to affirming it. So take this as a rule: Any general text in the Qur'an and the Sunnah that includes particulars, and we know that the righteous Salaf did not act upon some of these particulars, then acting upon it is a religious innovation. Because if it had been a recommended practice, they would have preceded us to Allah... Perhaps the time has ended.
