Explanation of the words of Ibn Malik (may Allah have mercy on him): In the remaining ones and in distress, they were lightened *** from me and from me, some of those who have passed.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And you are at liberty regarding the remaining ones", you are at liberty between the nun and its absence in the remaining ones. Where do the remaining ones come from? The remaining ones are from: inna and its sisters, because layta and la'all are among the sisters of inna, so what is meant by the remaining ones is what remains of inna and its sisters, and they are six letters: inna, anna, layta, la'alla, lakinna, and kanna. Take two of them, which are layta and la'alla, and four remain: inna, anna, kanna, and lakinna. In these, it is permissible equally to affirm the nun and to omit it. So you say: inna and inna. Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, I am Allah إنني أنا الله
[Taha 20:14]
He affirmed the nun. And it was said regarding Noah that he said to his people:
Indeed, I am to you a clear warner إني لكم نذير مبين
[Hud 11:25]
, but lakinna is the same; you say: lakinna, and you say: lakin, equally. "And you are at liberty regarding the remaining ones". And is that included in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
But I am Allah, your Lord لكنَّا هو الله ربي
?
The student: No.

The Shaykh : No, because the original of
But I am Allah, your Lord لكنَّا هو الله ربي
is lakin ana, which is "I am Allah, my Lord," but I, so it was written with an alif, but I am Allah, my Lord. Now, kanna is like what?
The student: Like I am at liberty.

The Shaykh : At liberty, you say: kanna I am understanding, kanna I am understanding. These are three: anna, anna, you say: I know that I am understanding, I know that I am understanding. And what remains?
The student: Kanna.

The Shaykh : Kanna, no, we said it in any case, and the time has ended as well, praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
The student: It is called the protective nun, and the aspect of protection in the ya is also like the protection!

The Shaykh : How is that?
The student: That would be from substitution, for example, in its time, if what precedes it is open...

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: So the nun is a protection.

The Shaykh : It is permissible to separate and connect in it, and it is connected.
