The ruling on one who threw at the pillar but did not verify that the pebbles fell in the basin

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I performed Hajj while being a resident of Makkah about seven years ago. During Hajj, I shortened the prayer with the imam, then I repeated it in full on my own. I threw the pebbles on all the days, from the Day of Sacrifice and the days after, at the pillar in the middle of the throwing area, thinking that it was the intended target for throwing. I do not know whether the stones fell inside the throwing area or outside of it. What is the ruling?

Answer: It is obligatory for you, if the matter is as you described, to pay one fidyah (ransom payment) that suffices for the udhiyah (sacrificial animal). If you are unable to do so, you must fast for ten days; because, in the situation you described, you are in the category of one who did not throw.
As for repeating the prayer in full after having prayed with the imam, there is no basis for that. It is obligatory to be content with the prayer with the imam; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed with the people at 'Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina in shortened form, and he did not order the people of Makkah to repeat the prayer in full. And Allah the Exalted said:
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent patternلَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ
[Al-Ahzab: 21], and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the people during the Farewell Pilgrimage:
Take your rituals from meخذوا عني مناسككم
